Our Ingredients, Our Promise

At Baked by Nana, “clean” isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the way we bake. Too often you see products labeled natural or healthy, but the ingredient list tells a very different story. That’s why we decided to do things differently.

Always Organic

We use 100% organic ingredients, from our fresh milled flour ground right in our kitchen to the sugar, butter, milk, and local, free range eggs in our products. No shortcuts, no fillers, no “almost clean” substitutes. If it isn’t truly free of toxins, it doesn’t make it into our mixing bowl.

Colors from Nature

Forget Red 40, Yellow 5, and other artificial dyes. Our colors come straight from fruits, vegetables, and plants. Every shade is naturally beautiful, and safe for your family. We have worked tirelessly to prefect our colors. It is a science that we will continually work to improve so that we can make them as vibrant as possible.

Why It Matters

Because food should be simple. Cakes should be full of joy, not chemicals. And we believe the celebration tastes even sweeter when you know it was made with the best ingredients possible.

We bake the way we feed our own families: with love, care, and ingredients you can trust.

Benefits of Fresh Milled Flour

At Baked by Nana, we mill our own flour because we believe the best cakes start with the best ingredients. Store-bought flour may look “clean,” but most of its natural goodness is stripped away for shelf life and appearance. Freshly milled flour is the real deal: nutritious, flavorful, and fresh. Here’s why it matters:

Nutrition That’s Real

Whole grain wheat, straight from the field, contains 40 of the 44 essential nutrients we need to thrive. That is 91% of the nutrition our bodies are looking for. Freshly milled flour is packed with antioxidants, vitamins (B & E), protein, fiber, and minerals like zinc, iron, and magnesium.

And it’s not just research, it’s personal. When our dad was diagnosed with diabetes, he tested the difference himself and found fresh-milled wheat did not spike his blood sugar the way store-bought flour did. That is one of the reasons we became passionate about milling in the first place. The other reason is the taste. You truly cannot beat it.

Studies show three servings of whole grains a day can reduce the risk of stroke, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers.

Flavor You Can Taste

Freshly milled flour makes baked goods lighter, fluffier, and more flavorful. The aromas, colors, and textures are more intense. Simply put, you can taste the difference.

Freshness

Because freshly milled flour still contains the natural oils from the grain, your baked goods stay fresher, longer.

Gentle on Gluten Sensitivities

Here’s something most people don’t know: store-bought flour often has extra gluten added back in after processing to make it easier to work with. Freshly milled flour only has the gluten that naturally occurs in the wheat berry. Many people with gluten sensitivities find they can tolerate it better because it is simple, honest, and natural.

Benefits of Sorghum Flour

At Baked by Nana, we love sorghum because it is simple, wholesome, and naturally good for you. It is one of the oldest grains in the world, but it fits perfectly in a modern kitchen. Here’s why we use it:

Naturally Gluten-Free

Sorghum is a naturally gluten-free grain that bakes beautifully. It is a perfect option for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease and adds flavor and texture without compromise.

Protein Packed

With about 10 grams of plant-based protein per cup, sorghum is a steady source of energy. It helps fuel your day and is a great option if you are looking for meatless protein.

High in Fiber

Sorghum is full of fiber that supports digestion and helps keep you satisfied. It is also a smart choice for steady blood sugar, which is one more reason we love it in our recipes.

Nutrients-Rich

This ancient grain comes loaded with iron, magnesium, and B vitamins. Those nutrients help with energy, bone health, and immune support, making sorghum a wholesome way to boost your bakes.

Heart-Smart

Rich in antioxidants, sorghum supports heart health and overall wellness. It is an easy way to add more whole grains to your diet while enjoying something delicious.

Steady Energy

Sorghum has a naturally low glycemic index, which means it releases energy slowly. No spikes, no crashes, just steady fuel for long days and active lives.
